Don't pass the buck - pass the legislation!

(1.)
Years ago when Tories had the power
disabled people were learning how to fight
with Labour members all in opposition,
together as allies we worked for civil rights.

(2.)
Despite corruptions with government conspiring
to talk the bills out and shoot us down in flames,
together with Labour we kept the battle going,
despite the tories all holding us to blame

(chorus)
Don't pass the buck - pass the legislation!
Patronise us and we'll fight.
We don't want your foolish slogans,
we're demanding civil rights

(3.)
So in come Labour, voted on a landslide
we think their promises will now come true,
but once in power our allies turn the tables,
their doctors spinning and red becomes more blue.

(4.)
Not content with dicrediting our movement,
they gave us Hodge and it became a farce.
She went and told us that we should know our places
to act like people who are really second class

(chorus)
Don't pass the buck - pass the legislation!
Patronise us and we'll fight.
We don't want your foolish slogans,
we're demanding civil rights.

(middle section)
We want our freedom! We want our civil rights!
The current legislation has no teeth!
We need to start afresh and dump the DDA
and find the common sense that lurks beneath.

(5.)
Now Labour tells us the social model's finished,
our dreams cost money and people will not pay,
that we should leave it to those who had the knowledge.
It is the experts who really have the say.

(6.)
Just to prove it they've put up lots of posters
to show the public we're really all the same.
If they just see us acting really normal
they'll see the person and not the cause for shame.

(chorus)
Don't pass the buck - pass the legislation!
Patronise us and we'll fight!
We don't want your foolish slogans,
we're demanding civil rights!
