Bioethics
(1)
we already know it,
it put us here.
mostly medical model -
the stuff we fear.
but that's not always clear.
(2)
from who gets to live,
to help to die.
from who gets the treatment,
to normalised..
it's all Bioethics.
(chorus)
who gave them the right
to ignore the equal value
of human lives?
(3)
it's the methods they make,
it's the reasons they try,
it's who owns our say
and who gets left behind.
there's little ethics here.
(4)
from eugenics by exclusion
and incarceration,
from sterilisations
to terminations -
we're not welcome here.
(chorus)
who gave them the right
to ignore the equal value
of human lives?
(mid)
everyone has a way
to make their wishes known.
if that's by clinging onto life,
doesn't that fact speak on it's own?
no no no - we cannot ally
to the lines that you have drawn.
death stops life, but
doesn't give it any quality at all.
(5)
it's a lot about us
mostly without us
save the hand-picked few-
but can they save us?
our Bioethics isn't here.
(6)
from limb lengthening,
to bionic eyes.
from cochlear implants,
to behaviour controlling drugs.
proffessionals rake it in
while people die in the wings.
(chorus)
who gave them the right
to ignore the equal value of human lives?
who gave them the right
to deny our people equal rights to life?
(7)
and so.. genetic perfection
for the world's top ten per cent
will come to you at the expense
of global health.
- that's Bioethics.
