       Those Poor Walkin Folk

(Typical visit to the bookstore)

She almost dropped her books and bags,

coming quickly round the corner,

looking high above my head,

the way those poor walkin folk do.

She like to jump outn her skin,

looked at me like I was some kinda ghost,

like I was the one that almost ran her down,

the way those poor walkin folk do.

I think I scared her,

me just sittin there,

sitting in my sharp black chair,

wire wheels and all.

I think I scared her,

me in my chair,

the way she looked,

looked at me like she coulda caught it,

a tubular aluminum virus,

wire wheels and all.

Guess they dont know what to think,

those schools dont teach em much,

bout the real world, and folks like us.

I saw her eyes, wide with fear;

Whos crippled now, girl?!

Glad I dont go through life scared,

the way those poor walkin folk do.
