'Mary' : denied justice again! Disabled activists fume. Changing Perspectives representative Simone Aspis has been at the high Court today on behalf of the disabled people nation-wide who are campaigning 'Jodie & Mary’s' Equal Right To Life. She says "We are appalled that Mary now has to appeal to the Court Of The Appeal to continue her fight for legal representation so that she can continue her fight for life. We are very disappointed that the High Court ruled in favour of Lawrence Oates to continue to act in Mary’s best interests," "We are outraged that Lawrence Oates has been let off the hook and that he can continue to prevent disabled babies who can not advocate for themselves from accessing the whole legal process until victory has been secured or that their struggle for life has reached the highest courts of the land." Now the state which wants to kill Mary is still considered proper and fit to be her considered as her guardian. We hoped that as long as Mary was fighting for her life that she would at least be granted independent representation to the House of Lords. "Mary is not only going to be murdered by the state but also by the justice system which has severely prejudiced her struggle for life. Even death row prisoners have more right to the whole legal process than disabled babies born in this country. At least death row prisoners can instruct their lawyers to appeal to the highest courts of the land ..." "We do not think disabled babies right to life should be determined by the competence and commitment of the Official Solicitor." Our campaign has the support of disability rights organisations in the UK and the USA and is being led by independent disabled people, separate from the Pro-life Alliance.
