I personally think this case of Mary and Jodie (once you have cut through all the media crap) as simply an eugenics issue, deciding who is the fittest person for survival. Both Jodie and Mary's performance as babies are being measured against what a non-disabled baby "ought" to achieve. Jodie and Mary are being pitched against each other because as the doctors are led us to believe based on conflicting medical evidence that only one can survive. The gift of life is given to the twin which is developing as closely as possible to a set of pre-conceived set of intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological norms of non disabled babies. When will it end - this case will sent a presence for conjoined twins, will it slip to identical and non identical twins, quads, quins and even disabled children born as a single birth. I have been to the courts to demonstrate my protest and have every intention of going on Friday for the final ruling. If it goes to the House of Lords then the campaign must continue.
